With a background in criminal litigation extending nearly four decades, Gemma Antoine-Belton leads her law firm in Washington D.C. As an attorney, she currently maintains a practice focused on elder and disability law and the administration of probate estates. Committed to protecting the rights of persons without homes and means, Gemma Antoine-Belton has defended clients in various settings, including cases that go to trial. In her 37 years of practice, she has conducted as lead attorney over 500+ non-jury trials and approximately 50 jury trials.
As a Probate Administrator, Ms. Antoine-Belton handles decedents' estates and ensures the proper administration and distribution, filing of taxes and accounting aspects of assets. She represents adults and their families in cases that require the management of funds on their behalf due to incapacitation or disability. She also prepares guardianship and conservatorship reports that help ensure court approval of financial accounting plans.
Previously involved in the adult and juvenile court sphere, Ms. Antoine-Belton represented adults and juveniles in drug, robbery, kidnapping, assault and other serious offenses. In Juvenile court, she represented children and parents in complex neglect, abuse, and delinquency proceedings. Among her responsibilities was representing teens and youths in persons-in-need-of-supervision (PINS) cases. She has also represented clients in matters centered on grand jury representation and probation and parole violations. As an attorney, Gemma Antoine-Belton has been a member of the D.C. Superior Court Trial Lawyers Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Bar Association of Washington, D.C., the National Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and many other professional associations including the International Association of Professional Women.
